APC Consensus Returns 20 Kano Reps Members, Badau Defeats Faruk Lawan

The All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives primary elections in Kano State have returned 20 serving lawmakers through consensus arrangements, while a serving member representing Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency, Yusuf Badau, defeated Faruk Lawan to secure the party’s ticket.

The development followed agreements reached among aspirants and party stakeholders ahead of the primaries conducted across the state.

Speaking in a recorded voice message, the Kano State Public Relations Officer of the APC, Auwalu Soja, disclosed that the party successfully arranged consensus for 20 House of Representatives contestants.

According to him, the consensus process was adopted to ensure unity within the party and avoid unnecessary contests among serving legislators and other aspirants.

He explained that while most constituencies embraced the consensus arrangement, four constituencies rejected the agreement, leading to the conduct of primary elections in those areas.

In one of the keenly contested races, Badau emerged victorious over Faruk Lawan in the Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency primary to clinch the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC leadership in the state is expected to continue consultations with party members and stakeholders as preparations intensify for the forthcoming elections.
