President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, on his 60th birthday, commending his leadership style and contributions to the development and stability of the state.
In a statement issued from the State House on Thursday, President Tinubu described Governor Alia as a compassionate and principled leader whose dedication to service and humanity laid the foundation for his emergence as governor in 2023.
The President noted that Alia, an ordained Catholic priest, spent years in spiritual and community service before venturing into politics, earning the trust and support of the people of Benue State.
According to the statement, Tinubu said the governor had continued to justify the confidence reposed in him through policies and programmes focused on industrialisation, infrastructure renewal and economic growth.
He particularly praised the establishment of manufacturing and processing industries in the state, including tomato and fruit juice factories, beer, nylon and polythene production plants, as well as a large-scale bakery designed to create employment opportunities and stimulate the local economy.
The President also lauded ongoing infrastructural projects under the Alia administration, especially the construction of underpasses in Makurdi and Gboko, which he said had improved transportation and urban mobility.
Tinubu further commended the governor’s investments in education and healthcare, including the establishment of a university of agriculture, science and technology, alongside improvements at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital.
The President also applauded Alia’s peace-building initiatives and efforts to promote unity among residents and political stakeholders in the state.
He urged the governor to remain committed to advancing security, welfare and developmental programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the people.
President Tinubu prayed for continued strength, wisdom and good health for Governor Alia as he celebrates his diamond jubilee and continues in service to the people of Benue State and Nigeria.
