The Nigeria Police Force has begun preparations for its 2025 Departmental Selection Board (DSB) exercise, which aims to promote qualified Inspectors nationwide to higher ranks.
An internal signal issued from the Office of the Force Secretary, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on October 9, 2025, revealed that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to organise the DSB for Inspectors confirmed on or before December 31, 2020.
According to the directive, Inspectors serving in formations such as Force Headquarters Annexes, Training Schools, Police Technical Units, Airports, Cooperatives, and Marine Police are to participate in the exercise within their respective zones.
The promotion board will run simultaneously across all police zones from December 1 to December 12, 2025.
Eligibility criteria require candidates to have obtained at least three consecutive “B” grades and above in their Annual Performance Evaluation Reports (APER) for 2022, 2023, and 2024, and must have no ongoing or pending disciplinary issues.
Zonal AIGs will chair the DSB panels, while State Commissioners of Police (CPs) will serve as members.
All completed Police Form 81 and Form F.O. 301, along with relevant reports, must be forwarded to the Force Secretary’s Office in both hard and soft copies by December 19, 2025. Soft copies are to be submitted in Excel format via email to promotionsforsec.npf@gmail.com.
