The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for what it described as an “opportunistic and grossly insensitive” statement over the killing of worshippers in Malumfashi, Katsina State.
Hobnob News recalls that the ADC, in a statement on Sunday, said the spate of attacks across the country was proof that Nigeria’s security architecture was crumbling. The party also accused both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of prioritising politics over the welfare and safety of Nigerians.
In a swift response on Monday, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, condemned the ADC’s remarks, stressing that the incident should not be politicised.
“It is a thing of national tragedy when lives of innocent and law-abiding citizens are cut down by forces of evil and terror. It is despicable and must be condemned by all Nigerians. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the victims of this and other incidents,” Morka stated.
He urged political actors to show sensitivity and unity in times of national grief rather than exploiting tragedies for partisan advantage.
