Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has extended warm congratulations to Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prof. Nentawe, who currently serves as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, was unanimously elected by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on Thursday, July 24, 2025. His election follows the resignation of former chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, in June due to personal and health-related reasons.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia described the Plateau-born academic and politician as a “visionary leader” with a proven record of brilliance, integrity, and excellence.
“With his intellect, brilliance, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence, I am confident that Prof. Nentawe will take our great party to even more enviable heights,” the Governor said.
Governor Alia also highlighted Prof. Nentawe’s previous roles, including his tenure as the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State and his candidacy as the APC’s 2023 governorship flagbearer in Plateau State, describing his emergence as National Chairman as well-earned and timely.
He further expressed confidence in Prof. Nentawe’s ability to offer focused leadership that would reposition the APC for sustained national relevance and broader public appeal.
Governor Alia concluded by wishing the new APC helmsman success in his new role and pledged his full support as Prof. Nentawe steers the affairs of Nigeria’s ruling party into a new chapter.
