The Federal High Court sitting in Lafia has granted bail in the sum of ₦30 million to Dr. Aondona Mkor, the suspended Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Research, Documentation and Strategy, who is standing trial over multiple charges of sextortion, cyberbullying, and asset declaration violations.

Dr. Mkor was arraigned on Wednesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a five-count charge bordering on cybercrime-related offenses and failure to declare assets. According to the EFCC, the accused allegedly sent nude images and sexually explicit videos of several women through WhatsApp, threatening to publish the materials if certain demands were not met.

The alleged victims named in the charge sheet include Olatunji Olajumoke, Agbindah Abigail Mngusonan, Ignatius Christabel, and Aluka Joy Sember. The EFCC stated that the incidents occurred between September 2024 and July 2025 in the Federal Capital Territory and Makurdi, Benue State.

Prosecutors further allege that Dr. Mkor violated Section 24(1)(a) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc) Act, 2015, and Section 27(3)(c) of the EFCC Establishment Act, 2004, for failing to declare his assets.

The 50-year-old pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Ruling on the bail application, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon admitted Dr. Mkor to bail in the sum of ₦30 million with one surety in like sum. The court mandated that the surety must be related to the defendant, present evidence of ownership of a registered company with at least three years of tax clearance, and provide a Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property, all subject to verification by court officials.

Until the bail conditions are met, Dr. Mkor will remain in custody at the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Nasarawa State.

The case has been adjourned to October 13, 2025, for continuation of trial.
