Elon Musk Launches ‘America Party’ to Challenge U.S. Political Establishment

United States tech mogul and billionaire, Elon Musk, has announced the formation of a new political movement, the “America Party,” signaling a dramatic escalation in his political ambitions and a direct challenge to what he calls the country’s entrenched “one-party system.”

The announcement came on Saturday, just a day after Musk sparked speculation by polling his followers on X (formerly Twitter) about the need for a new political party in the United States.

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk posted to his X account. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

The declaration marks a stark break from Musk’s former alliance with U.S. President Donald Trump. Once a vocal supporter and an influential figure in the Trump administration’s government efficiency task force, Musk has since fallen out with the president over growing policy disagreements—especially in areas concerning federal spending, green energy, and artificial intelligence.

Musk’s announcement comes at a time of growing tensions between the tech billionaire and the White House. As reported earlier by SaharaReporters, President Trump recently criticized Musk over the billions in federal subsidies received by his companies, particularly Tesla and SpaceX.

“Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” Trump wrote in a fiery post on Truth Social. He also took aim at Musk’s former role leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—an agency created by the second Trump administration to modernize federal operations and cut spending.

“Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard look at this?” Trump added sarcastically.

The feud has intensified amid legislative battles in Washington. Musk has openly opposed Trump’s newly revised “big, beautiful bill,” which includes increased taxes on green energy firms, greater support for fossil fuels, and the removal of key protections for the artificial intelligence sector. In a further blow to Silicon Valley interests, Republican senators recently blocked a proposal that would have exempted AI companies from burdensome state-level regulations.

Musk’s creation of the America Party is already sparking widespread speculation about its political impact, especially with the 2026 midterm elections approaching. While no candidates have yet been announced under the new party’s banner, Musk’s massive following and influence—both online and in business—could pose a significant challenge to both the Republican and Democratic establishments.

Political analysts say Musk’s move could reshape the American political landscape, especially among disaffected voters frustrated with traditional party politics.

As Musk summed up in his announcement: “This isn’t about left or right. It’s about restoring sanity, innovation, and freedom to the American people.”
