The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State has confirmed the defection of more than 100 individuals from various political parties into its fold over the last ten days, signaling a surge of momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
State chairman of the party, Alhaji Kabiru Garba, made the announcement during a press briefing in Gusau on Friday. He described the growing number of defections as a clear sign of rising support for the ADC across the state.
“In the past ten days, we’ve recorded over 100 new members who joined from different parties,” Garba stated. “This shows that our message is resonating with the people, and ADC is becoming a political force to reckon with in Zamfara.”
He added that the party remains open and inclusive, actively engaging with individuals and political groups who share its vision for a better future. According to Garba, more defections are anticipated in the coming weeks as the party intensifies efforts to strengthen its grassroots network.
In a notable remark, Garba said the ADC would welcome Governor Dauda Lawal if he ever chose to join the party. “If the governor decides to join us, he will be received like any other member,” he said, emphasizing the party’s commitment to openness and inclusivity.
The ADC’s growing appeal comes amid increasing political realignments in Zamfara State, as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
Garba concluded by reiterating the party’s readiness to provide a credible alternative for the people of Zamfara. “We are building a movement that reflects the hopes and aspirations of the people. The response so far has been very encouraging,” he said.
