NAF Reaffirms Commitment to Responsible Use of Air Power in Fight Against Insecurity – Air Marshal Abubakar

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) unwavering commitment to the effective and responsible deployment of all recently acquired air assets in the nation’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities threatening Nigeria’s peace and security.

Speaking through a statement issued by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that the strategic use of air power remains a critical component in neutralizing threats and restoring order in troubled regions across the country.

“The Nigerian Air Force is fully committed to deploying its capabilities in a manner that is both efficient and responsible,” the statement read. “All acquired air assets will be utilized in strict adherence to internationally recognized rules of engagement, ensuring that operations not only dismantle hostile elements but also protect innocent civilians and their properties.”

The NAF reiterated that its overarching goal is to create enduring peace and stability throughout Nigeria, especially in areas plagued by persistent violence and insecurity. According to Air Commodore Gabkwet, the emphasis on professionalism, precision, and accountability remains central to the NAF’s operational philosophy.

This renewed assurance comes amid intensified aerial operations targeting insurgent strongholds in the North East and armed bandit camps in the North West and North Central regions.

The Nigerian Air Force has recently bolstered its fleet with state-of-the-art platforms aimed at enhancing surveillance, reconnaissance, and precision strike capabilities. These assets, Air Marshal Abubakar noted, will be pivotal in ensuring mission success while minimizing collateral damage.

The Air Chief urged Nigerians to continue supporting the military’s efforts, assuring the public that every mission is carefully planned and executed with the highest regard for human life and national interest.

As Nigeria continues to battle a multi-faceted security challenge, the NAF’s pledge to deploy its resources ethically and strategically marks another significant step toward achieving lasting peace and security across the nation.
