Security Crackdown: NSCDC Shuts Down Chinese-Owned Firm, Six Others Over Illegal Operations in Abuja

Abuja | Hobnob News — In a bold move to tighten national security, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sealed off a Chinese-owned private security firm and six others operating illegally within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The operation, led by FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu, targeted firms lacking valid licences — a clear breach of national regulations governing private security.

“Foreigners cannot operate private guard companies in Nigeria,” Odumosu stated firmly. “Allowing them to do so is a direct threat to national security. Who knows their real mission or if they’re acting as informants?”

Among the sealed outfits is the Security of China Private Security Company, run by Chinese nationals in clear violation of Nigerian law, which prohibits foreign ownership of security firms. The NSCDC revealed that six of the seven shut companies were never licensed, while one operated with an expired permit.

Security Breaches and Suspicious Hires

Odumosu warned that some of the illegal firms had been employing unvetted personnel, including non-Nigerians, raising serious security concerns.

“Some of these operators don’t understand the implications of their actions. We’ve had cases where private guards have turned on their clients — involved in kidnappings and robberies,” he revealed.

Unlicensed and Unacceptable

The seven sealed companies are:

  • Security of China Private Security Company
  • Segad Security and Protection Company
  • Frowise Global Security Equipment Ltd
  • An unregistered outfit operating in CEWARA Estate
  • Moss Bright Security Company
  • BERA Security Company
  • Prixair Security Outfit

The NSCDC warned that the clampdown on unlicensed firms will continue, as many informal and unregistered outfits continue to operate dangerously under the radar.

Know Your Guard: NSCDC Issues Warning

“We are the regulatory agency for all private security firms,” Odumosu stressed. “Companies must register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and be licensed through the NSCDC under the Ministry of Interior.”

He urged Nigerians and businesses to verify the licensing status of any security company they engage, emphasizing that national security must never be left in the hands of unvetted, unregulated operators.
