The Plateau Lawyers Bar Forum (PLBF) has strongly condemned the Nigerian Police Force for publicly sharing graphic images of the late David Parradang, former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS). His body was reportedly found in a hotel in Abuja under unclear circumstances.
At a press conference in Jos over the weekend, the PLBF criticized the dissemination of distressing images and personal details about the deceased, calling it a blatant violation of privacy and human dignity.
Parradang was alleged to have died while meeting behind closed doors with an unidentified woman. However, the police’s handling of the matter has sparked widespread outrage, particularly after the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command released a statement on March 4, 2025, which included explicit photographs and speculative details about his death.
“The public disclosure of such graphic images during an active investigation not only erodes public trust in law enforcement but also compromises the integrity of the inquiry,” the Forum stated.
The lawyers also argued that portraying Parradang in an undignified manner was deeply insensitive to his grieving family. They emphasized that sharing unverified details about his death only encouraged speculation and damaged the reputation of a man who had served the nation with honor.
The PLBF further criticized the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for remaining silent on the issue, urging the agency to uphold the tradition of honoring its former leaders by issuing an official statement, as done in other security and military institutions.
Parradang’s remains have since been placed at the National Hospital in Abuja.
