The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) is taking proactive steps to revitalize the state’s economy by redirecting youths into the business ecosystem. According to Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, Group Managing Director/CEO of BIPC, the company’s current initiatives aim to create a vibrant entrepreneurial culture in the state.
Speaking during a virtual town hall meeting, Asemakaha noted that despite the state’s multi-sectoral challenges, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, has brought in technocrats to redirect the state’s economy. He highlighted that jobs lost from 2014 to 2023 totaled 907,676 in the SME sector, but the current administration has reversed the negative growth from -3.2 to positive within a year.
To address the challenges, BIPC is developing effective strategies and policies, including the Benue State Inclusive Economy Policy, Benue State Policy on Micro Small and Medium, and Benue State Industrial and Trade Policy. These initiatives aim to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Asemakaha also announced plans to establish the Benue Investment Trust Fund, which will provide financial support and resources to young entrepreneurs, enabling them to start and grow their businesses. This initiative aims to empower young people in the state to become entrepreneurs and job creators.
The virtual town hall meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to engage with Asemakaha and other contributors, with participants expressing hope in the initiative’s potential to transform Benue’s business landscape.
