Residents of Akor and neighboring villages in Nzorov Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State have fled their homes following the gruesome murder of a prominent farmer, Mr. Terzungwe Shaku, by suspected herdsmen.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Shaku was kidnapped and held hostage for over two weeks before his lifeless body was discovered. The kidnappers had initially demanded a ransom of 20 million naira, but the family managed to negotiate and pay 5.4 million naira.

Despite receiving the ransom payment, the kidnappers brutally murdered Mr. Shaku, leaving his body at the designated release point. The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with many residents evacuating their villages in fear of further attacks.

The deserted community is now gripped with fear and uncertainty, as the perpetrators remain at large. The incident has raised concerns about the growing insecurity in the region and the need for urgent intervention by the authorities to protect the lives and livelihoods of innocent citizens.
