The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained ten officers over allegations of theft involving missing items.
In a statement released on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the EFCC disclosed that the officers were apprehended last week for failing to account for specific operational items.
The statement read, “In its continuing efforts to sweep the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, clean of corrupt tendencies, 10 officers of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, are being detained over investigation of some missing items involving them.”
It added, “The officers, who were arrested last week on the directives of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede are answering questions related to the theft of some operational items that they could not account for.”
The commission confirmed that the investigation is making significant progress, stating, “Investigators are making good progress and those found culpable will be subjected to internal disciplinary processes.”
This move is part of the EFCC’s commitment to addressing internal corruption and upholding accountability.
