The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Enema Paul, has died at the age of 47. He reportedly succumbed to an undisclosed illness in a private hospital in Abuja during the early hours of Saturday.
Until his passing, Hon. Paul represented the Okura State Constituency in the 8th Assembly of the Kogi State House of Assembly. He had previously stepped down as Deputy Speaker due to health challenges and was succeeded by Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola of the Ibaji State Constituency.
In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, expressed heartfelt condolences to the late lawmaker’s family. He described Hon. Enema Paul as a humble, committed, and team-oriented public servant whose legislative efforts significantly contributed to the state’s unity and development.
The Speaker lauded Hon. Paul’s dedication to pro-people legislation and highlighted his role as a devoted Christian who upheld strong family values and transcended religious divides.
Rt. Hon. Umar prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family, colleagues, and friends, acknowledging the profound loss to both the current and immediate past Assemblies.
