The Edo State House of Assembly has given its stamp of approval to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s request for the appointment of 20 Special Advisers. This decision was made after the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Umar Ikhilor, sent a letter to the Speaker of the House, outlining the need for these appointments to ensure the smooth operation of the governor’s administration.
In addition to the Special Advisers, the House also approved the nomination of Emmanuel Okoebor as the Commissioner for Finance. This confirmation comes after the House had previously confirmed Samson Osagie as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, and Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole as Commissioner for Health .
This development is not unprecedented, as the Edo State House of Assembly had previously approved similar requests from Governor Godwin Obaseki, including the appointment of 15 Special Advisers in 2021.
The Edo State House of Assembly’s approval of these appointments is expected to bolster the governor’s administration and enhance the state’s governance.
