The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is set to meet with the Department of State Services (DSS) on October 9, 2024. The meeting’s purpose is to discuss the price and availability of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), according to IPMAN’s President.
“Wednesday, I have a meeting with the Department of State Services. It is about the petrol pump price,” he said. When asked for details, he added, “Anywhere IPMAN is involved, it is about the issue of petrol and its availability to members.”
The meeting comes as Nigerians struggle with high fuel prices, buying petrol at N950 to N1,200 or more across the country. Recently, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) stopped being the sole off-taker of Dangote Petrol.
Dangote Refinery began distributing petrol in September, coinciding with NNPCL’s increase in petrol pump prices. The IPMAN President remained tight-lipped on meeting specifics, saying, “Until we go there, I will brief you after the meeting.” The outcome of this meeting may bring clarity to Nigeria’s fuel crisis.
