Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reassured residents that his administration will swiftly deliver on all campaign promises. During his “Thank You” tour of Edo Central and North senatorial districts, Okpebholo expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received during the September 21 governorship election.
Okpebholo painted a grim picture of the state’s current condition, citing significant infrastructure deterioration since former Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s departure in 2016. He criticized outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki for neglecting road infrastructure, highlighting the difficulties navigating roads from Irrua to Auchi, which he described as being in a “very bad state”.
Instead of fixing the roads, Okpebholo accused Obaseki of focusing on political grandstanding, putting up billboards, and making excuses, while Edo residents continued to suffer. Okpebholo assured the people that his administration would be different, promising to begin work immediately on state roads and partnering with the federal government to repair federal roads across Edo.
“We will not give you any excuse for failure, and we will not fail, by God’s grace and mercy. You voted for us to produce solutions,” Okpebholo told the crowd. He aims to bring much-needed relief to Edo residents, alongside his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa.
As a senator representing Edo Central senatorial district since 2023, Okpebholo’s campaign focused on economic reform, foreign investment, and infrastructure development to bring stability and growth to Edo ². His commitment to fulfilling campaign promises has sparked hope among Edo residents, eager for positive change.
