Bobrisky: House of Representatives Launches Investigation into Bribery Allegations Against EFCC and NCS Following Explosive Claims by VeryDarkMan

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has initiated an investigation into bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

This development follows social critic Martins Otse’s (VeryDarkMan) release of an audio clip featuring crossdresser Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky), alleging the EFCC dropped money laundering charges after receiving a N15 million bribe.

During plenary, Representative Patrick Umoh (Akwa Ibom State) sponsored the motion, expressing concern over the damaging publication. Umoh emphasized Nigeria’s negative image as a corrupt nation and the need for urgent action.

“The publication alleges that the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, upon collection of N15,000,000,” Umoh stated. “It also alleges that Idris Okuneye, upon conviction for abuse and defacing of the Naira by the court, did not serve his time at the Nigeria Correctional Service but was lodged outside the confines of the service.”

Umoh stressed that the allegations against critical law enforcement agencies should not be ignored.

“We are disturbed about the damning allegations against Nigerian critical law enforcement agencies – the EFCC and the NCS established by this hallowed chambers to fight correction and incarcerate persons convicted of a crime for correctional purposes respectively.”

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas referred the matter to the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions, mandating the members to submit their findings within three legislative weeks.

The investigation aims to address the bribery allegations and restore public trust in Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies. The outcome will be crucial in determining the future course of action against corruption in the country.
