The Federal Government has inaugurated the second phase of its Renewed Hope Agric Empowerment Project (REHAEP) in Plateau, aimed at enhancing food security for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The project, a collaboration between the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, will support 300 IDPs with inputs, cash grants, and labor costs.
The project, launched in Kpwasho, Bassa Local Government Area, will provide seedlings, land, and market access for harvested grains, contributing to food security and economic empowerment. The initiative is part of a broader effort to provide sustainable agricultural opportunities for IDPs, with plans to expand to 10,000 beneficiaries through partnerships with relevant agencies.
Stakeholders, including the Plateau Governor, Caleb Muftwang, and traditional leaders, commended the initiative and assured their commitment to supporting IDPs. The project aims to transit from subsistence to commercial farming, promoting mechanized farming and reviving the cultivation of roses and coffee for export.
