A dramatic scene unfolded at the Enugu Magistrate Court when a lawyer, Mrs. Nkechinyere Aidenojie, asked the police to arrest her client, Mrs. Patience Amaka Ede, accusing her of taking a picture of them together with her husband, Evidence Nwachukwu, the defendant in the case.
Amaka suspected an intimate relationship between her lawyer and husband, who allegedly battered her and caused her to lose a five-month pregnancy.
The lawyer claimed she was discussing the case with the husband, but Amaka became furious, feeling compromised.
She took a picture of them as evidence, leading to her arrest and detention.
From the police station, Amaka said, “I took the picture as evidence to show the Director of Public Prosecutions that my lawyer had been compromised in my case.”
The lawyer, Mrs. Aidenojie, stated, “The girl insulted me so much today when she saw me talking with her husband. Did she know what I was discussing with him that gave her the audacity to start taking my picture?”
