Omehia Calls Out Wike’s Lust for Power and Greed, Urges Focus on Governance

Former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia, has strongly criticized FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, urging him to diminish his “propensity for power and greed” and permit Governor Siminalayi Fubara to fulfill his duties.

Omehia remarked that Wike’s “undying inclination for power” is causing him turmoil and instability.

He conveyed these sentiments in reaction to a recent televised interview by Wike in Abuja.

During the interview, Wike labeled Uche Secondus, Sen George Sekibo, and other PDP leaders in Rivers State as “expired politicians and buccaneers” due to their support for Fubara.

In his response, Omehia characterized Wike’s “uncontrolled outbursts” as indicative of confusion, suggesting that Wike’s frustration stems from his failed ambition for a third term and the realization that his pursuit of power is self-serving rather than for the benefit of Rivers State or the South-South region.

Omehia asserted that Wike’s attempt to “manipulate and misuse state resources and governance” has been resisted by the people, thwarting an impeachment plot by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He criticized Wike for his tendency to “lie” and “disrespect elders”, suggesting that Wike’s behavior is not surprising given his track record.

Omehia also questioned why Wike is “troubled by their support for the Governor and the Federal Government under President Tinubu”, suggesting that Wike’s desire for perpetual political conflict is irrational.

“The FCT Minister thought that he would continue to control and abuse the resources and governance of the state but God, through the people, resisted the impeachment plot by his members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.“Wike is notorious for “lying” against anyone, anytime and “disrespects elders” at will, so there is no surprise about his outburst and criticism against innocent personalities in Rivers State.“Wike speaks from both sides of his mouth, he says something today and denies it tomorrow like a clown. I am not a buccaneer and my capacity to contribute to the growth and development of my state and country is not impaired.“I wonder why he is pained by our support for the Governor and the Federal Government under President Tinubu. Does he want us to perpetually be at political war with everybody, even long after elections are over and governance taken over? Is it not madness?” Omehia queried.

He advised Wike to focus on his duties in Abuja, as the state does not miss his “disruptive presence”.
