However, victory came at a cost for Nwabali, who was forced off the pitch in the 78th minute due to an injury. The goalkeeper, who was making his debut for the national team, has now disclosed that he is still experiencing pain from the injury.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Nwabali expressed his disappointment at having to leave the match prematurely. He revealed, “I was really enjoying the game and giving my best when I felt a sharp pain in my lower back. It was quite debilitating and I knew I had to come off.”

Nwabali went on to explain that he has been working closely with the team’s medical staff to manage the injury and ensure a speedy recovery. However, he admitted that the process has been challenging. “I still feel pains every now and then, especially when I try to make sudden movements or dive to save shots. It’s frustrating, but I’m staying positive and doing everything I can to get back to full fitness,” he said.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper also expressed his gratitude for the support he has been receiving from his teammates and the coaching staff. “Everyone has been so helpful and encouraging. They understand the importance of a healthy squad, and I’m grateful for their support during this time,” Nwabali stated.

With the quarter-finals just around the corner, Nwabali finds himself in a race against time to regain fitness and be available for selection. However, he remains optimistic and determined to make a swift recovery. “My focus right now is on rehabilitating my injury and getting back on the field as soon as possible. I believe in the capabilities of our team, and I want to contribute to our success in this tournament,” he concluded.
