ALIA HANDS OVER 100 BUSES TO BENUE LINKS TRANSPORT COMPANY

 

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has officially handed over 100 newly procured buses to the Benue Links Transport Company. The event took place on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the main park of the company in Makurdi.

Governor Alia stated that the provision of the 100 buses is part of his administration’s effort to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the people of Benue State. He commended the management of Benue Links Transport Company for their proactive approach in identifying and opening new routes to better serve the towns and villages within the state.

While handing over the buses, Governor Alia appealed to the company to closely monitor the activities of its drivers to prevent arbitrary fare increases, overloading, and non-compliance with traffic rules and regulations.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing a range of palliative measures, which enabled each state to address the specific needs of its people.

The Commissioner for Power and Transport, Oga Matthew Omale, praised Governor Alia for fulfilling his promises and assured the Governor and the people of Benue State that the new buses will be utilized solely for their intended purpose.

Various dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Barr. Sam Ode, Hon. Iwuchukwu Moses, and the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, as well as two passengers, Rosemary Iordebee from Benue State and Ede David from Cross River State, expressed their gratitude to Governor Alia for his efforts in revitalizing the Benue Links Transport Company.

In his closing remark, Alexander Fanafa, the Acting General Manager of the company, extended his appreciation to Governor Alia for providing the new buses, which will significantly enhance the operational capacity of the company and address the transportation needs of the people.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Benue State House of Assembly Committee on Transport, Hon. Jonathan Agbideh, several members of the Benue State Executive Council, and other top government officials.
