In a recent development, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Setonji Koshoedo as the party’s acting National Secretary. The decision was made during the NWC meeting held on Tuesday, as stated by PDP’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum.
The appointment of Koshoedo is temporary and is contingent upon the outcome of the case currently under review in the Enugu High Court. Damagum clarified that the decision to appoint Koshoedo as the acting National Secretary was made to ensure the party’s due process while the court case is being resolved.
“We decided that the Deputy National Secretary should take over in an acting capacity pending the resolution of the court case. We also direct parties involved in the court case to stand down action for the party’s due process,” Damagum stated.
It was revealed by Damagum that conflicting court orders have further complicated the situation. In light of this, an Enugu High Court had previously directed Sam Anyanwu to cease presenting himself as the party’s National Secretary, instead recognizing Sunday Udeh-Okoye for the position.
The PDP’s decision to appoint Setonji Koshoedo as the acting National Secretary reflects the party’s commitment to upholding transparency and due process during this challenging time. As the court battle persists, the party urges all parties involved to await the resolution through the appropriate channels.
The appointment of Setonji Koshoedo brings temporary stability to the PDP’s leadership, allowing the party to continue its essential work while awaiting the outcome of the court case.
