More details on the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC have emerged with Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State being credited with helping the party to navigate the crisis.

High-level sources disclosed that Adamu was forced to tender a handwritten letter of resignation during a meeting with Adamu on Sunday when it was distilled to the embattled national chairman that he would be humiliated at the forthcoming National Caucus and National Executive Committee, NEC meetings scheduled to hold on Tuesday and Wednesday.Adamu had been under fire from some elements within the NEC of the party to take his exit. The agitators were reportedly urged on by presidency officials upon reports of the national chairman’s opposition to the emergence of Tinubu as presidential candidate before the convention.

Hobnob News reports that within hours of Tinubu delivering his Emiolokan Statement in Abeokuta, Ogun State just before the convention, Adamu had vowed that the APC would punish the then-presidential aspirant for his effrontery in humiliating the then president, Muhammadu Buhari.

Adamu’s sins were further stretched when he openly opposed the emergence of Tinubu’s nominees as principal officers of the National Assembly.

Hobnob News had further reported that a national vice chairman of the APC, Salihu Lukman had last week called for the resignation of Adamu following these and other alleged malfeasances including what he claimed as a failure to account for party finances.

Upon the agitation, Governor Uzodimma apparently acting on behalf of the APC governors met with Uzodimma where it was reportedly conveyed to the national chairman that he would be removed at the NEC meeting if he failed to tender his resignation before the NEC meeting. It was gathered that Adamu tendered a handwritten resignation which was reportedly conveyed to the chief of staff to the president, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.
