The Presidency has announced that all pupils and teachers who were abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been rescued by security operatives.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his verified X account.
According to Onanuga, the successful rescue followed sustained operations by Nigeria’s security agencies, describing the development as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity across the country.
“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” he wrote.
Although the Presidency did not disclose further details about the rescue operation, including the circumstances surrounding the victims’ release or whether any suspects were arrested, the development has brought relief to the families of the victims and residents of the affected community.
