A Nigerian girl identified simply as Ngufan, who was reportedly trafficked to Mali, has died under circumstances that are yet to be clarified.
The sad development was disclosed by anti-human trafficking activist Zege Orkwande in a Facebook post on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Orkwande, known for his efforts in rescuing Benue girls trafficked to several African countries for prostitution, announced the victim’s death and appealed to the public for assistance in tracing her relatives.
According to the activist, the exact circumstances surrounding Ngufan’s death remain unknown, as efforts are ongoing to obtain more information about the incident.
He urged anyone who may know the deceased or have information about her family to come forward so that her relatives can be contacted and informed of the tragic development.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing menace of human trafficking and the dangers faced by victims who are taken across borders under exploitative conditions.
