Kwankwasiyya Movement Defends Peter Obi Against Alleged Anti-Northerner Claims

The Kwankwasiyya movement has dismissed claims that former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, oppressed northerners during his time in office, describing the allegations as false and politically motivated.

Speaking with Nova News Media, the movement’s spokesman, Captain Mansur Kurugu, said the accusations were mere propaganda aimed at discrediting the Obi movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Kurugu, opposition figures are taking advantage of public ignorance to spread false narratives against Obi because they are unable to effectively market the achievements of their own candidates.

“All these sayings that Peter Obi degraded the northerners, this is not true. The one who did that is with the APC now. We are alive when northerners were degraded in Benue, Oyo, Mile 12. Who did you hear amongst these men speak out on this?” he said.

Kurugu maintained that the allegations would not stand because Nigerians, especially supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement, are aware of what he described as attempts to tarnish Obi’s image for political gain.

He further stated that the movement remains strong and enjoys the backing of the people despite what he called repeated attacks from political opponents.

The spokesman insisted that the opposition’s strategy of spreading misinformation would fail, stressing that Nigerians are becoming more politically conscious ahead of the next presidential election.
