
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, visited the South Korean National Assembly and the Constitutional Court of Korea as part of the International Election Observation Programme (IEOP) team.
The visit offered members of the delegation an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the Korean electoral legal system, particularly the roles played by the Legislature and the Judiciary in strengthening democratic governance and ensuring credible electoral processes.

During the engagements, discussions focused on the evolution of South Korea’s democratic institutions and the legal frameworks that support transparency, accountability, and public confidence in elections.
The IEOP team was also taken on guided tours of the National Assembly Museum and the Constitutional Court Museum, where they were exposed to the historical development of the Republic of Korea’s legal and democratic systems.

The museums showcased significant milestones in the country’s democratic journey, highlighting the institutional reforms and judicial contributions that have shaped modern South Korea’s governance structure.
The visit forms part of ongoing international engagements aimed at promoting knowledge exchange and best practices in electoral administration and democratic development.
