Residents of Lekki in Lekki have apprehended three suspected Fulani bandits on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in a swift community-led operation that has sparked renewed discussions on local security vigilance in the area.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspects were allegedly caught after residents noticed their suspicious movements within a residential section of the upscale Lagos community. A coordinated alarm was raised, leading to their immediate interception and restraint by local vigilantes and concerned citizens before security operatives were alerted.

The suspects, identified as three young men believed to be of Fulani origin, were said to have been attempting to blend into the area under unclear circumstances. Residents claimed the group had been roaming the neighbourhood for several hours prior to their arrest.

Security personnel were later called to the scene, and the suspects were handed over for further investigation. Authorities are expected to determine whether the individuals are connected to any broader criminal network or if they were wrongly profiled.

Meanwhile, tension briefly rose in parts of the community following the incident, but calm was later restored as police presence increased in the area.

Lekki, located in Lagos, has in recent times experienced heightened community vigilance amid concerns over sporadic security threats, prompting residents to rely more on neighborhood watch systems.
