Bandit Scare Forces Closure of Schools in Osun Communities as Students Flee in Panic

Residents of Ikirun in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State were thrown into panic on Tuesday following reports that suspected bandits dropped a threatening letter at a public school in the community.
The development reportedly triggered fear across several neighbouring towns, including Obaagun, Iree, Eripa, Otan Ayegbaju in Boluwaduro Local Government Area, and Ila-Orangun in Ila Local Government Area.
According to reports gathered by Politics Nigeria, students were seen running along major roads as rumours of a possible attack spread across the affected communities.
Several schools were said to have shut down activities over security concerns. Among the affected institutions are Community Second Grammar School, Obaagun; NUD School, Iree; Kidvarc School, Iree; Baptist Day School, Iree, as well as schools in Eripa, Otan-Ayegbaju and Ila-Orangun.
The panic later spread to Osogbo, the Osun State capital, where some private schools reportedly contacted parents and guardians to urgently pick up their children amid fears of possible insecurity.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to issue an official statement regarding the alleged threat, while anxious residents continued to monitor the situation closely.
Parents and community members have called on security agencies and the Osun State Government to take immediate steps to reassure residents and strengthen security around schools and public places.
