The Federal Government has dismissed reports circulating in sections of the media claiming that it approved a 40 per cent peculiar allowance for federal civil servants.
The government clarified that no such approval had been granted, describing the reports as misleading and inaccurate.
DAILY POST recalls that on April 24, 2026, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, at a widely attended press briefing, announced that the Federal Government had approved a comprehensive welfare package for civil servants and other entitlements aimed at improving workers’ welfare.
However, authorities explained that the announcement did not include any approval for a 40 per cent peculiar allowance as being speculated.
The government urged civil servants and members of the public to disregard the reports and rely only on official communications from relevant government agencies for accurate information regarding workers’ welfare and salary matters.
Officials further reiterated the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of federal workers through lawful and sustainable policies.
