The Kano State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State.
Garo’s confirmation came after his screening by lawmakers during plenary, which was presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
Presenting the report, the Chairman of the ad hoc committee and Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, stated that Garo’s nomination followed the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
He noted that the screening process was conducted in accordance with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the Assembly to confirm a nominee when a vacancy arises.
According to the committee, Garo underwent a thorough screening, responding to questions on his educational background, professional experience, grasp of governance, and plans for the state. His credentials were also verified.
The committee added that the nominee demonstrated a solid understanding of the responsibilities of the office and outlined plans to support the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Following the committee’s recommendation, the House adopted the report and confirmed his appointment.
