APC Releases 2027 Primary Timetable, Sets Presidential Nomination Form at ₦100 Million

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a proposed timetable and schedule of activities for its 2027 general election primaries, detailing key dates for nomination processes, screenings, and party primaries across all elective positions.

According to the document signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the process will officially commence with the issuance of a notice of election to state chapters on April 20, 2026.

The sale of nomination and expression of interest forms is scheduled to take place between April 25 and May 2, 2026, while the deadline for submission of completed forms and necessary documents is fixed for May 4, 2026.

Screening exercises for aspirants vying for State Houses of Assembly, governorship, House of Representatives, and Senate seats are slated for May 9 to 10. Presidential aspirants, however, will be screened separately on May 23 in Abuja.

The timetable further indicates that the party’s presidential primary convention will hold from May 28 to 29, 2026. The exercise is expected to be conducted through direct primaries across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Other primaries have also been scheduled as follows: State House of Assembly on May 16, governorship on May 18, House of Representatives on May 20, and Senate on May 22, 2026.

In terms of costs, the APC fixed the presidential nomination fee at ₦100 million, comprising ₦30 million for the expression of interest form and ₦70 million for the nomination form.

A breakdown of fees for other elective positions shows that governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million, Senate aspirants ₦20 million, House of Representatives aspirants ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly aspirants ₦5 million.

The document also provides concessions for certain categories of aspirants. Female candidates, youths, and persons living with disabilities are required to pay only for the expression of interest form and 50 percent of the nomination fee.

The proposed timetable aligns with the framework set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which mandates political parties to conclude their primaries within an approved timeframe ahead of the 2027 general elections.

If ratified by the APC’s National Working Committee, the schedule will officially signal the commencement of internal party contests, as political attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 elections, particularly the presidential race and key governorship battles nationwide.
