The conflict between the United States and Iran continues to intensify, with rising casualties and a fresh wave of troop deployments ordered by Donald Trump.
According to multiple reports, about 1,000 US soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division are expected to deploy to the Middle East in the coming days. The division, known for its rapid-response capability and airborne assault operations, is often used in high-risk missions requiring swift deployment.
This move follows an earlier announcement that thousands of US Marines stationed aboard Navy vessels are also being sent to the region, signaling a significant military buildup.
Tensions have further escalated amid speculation that the US could attempt to seize Kharg Island, a strategic location critical to Iran’s oil exports. Reports indicate that US forces carried out airstrikes targeting defensive positions on the island more than a week ago, though officials said key oil infrastructure was not damaged.
Iran has responded with strong warnings, threatening to mine the Gulf if US troops attempt a ground invasion.
Meanwhile, the human toll continues to grow. A spokesperson for United States Central Command confirmed that around 290 US troops have been injured in the conflict. Of those, 255 have returned to duty, while 10 remain in serious condition.
In addition, 13 American service members have been killed.
On the Iranian side, the casualties are significantly higher. Iranian state media reports that over 1,500 people have died, with more than 1,000 additional fatalities reported in Lebanon, according to the country’s health ministry.
The latest developments underscore fears of a broader regional escalation, as both sides continue to reinforce their positions and rhetoric intensifies.
