DSS Storms Malami’s Abuja Residence After Atiku’s Visit

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday reportedly raided the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, ordering occupants to vacate the premises.

According to sources, the incident happened shortly after a visit by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to the Maitama home. He was said to have spent about an hour before departing.

An aide to Atiku confirmed the visit, while a witness claimed DSS operatives had already surrounded the residence during the meeting but only moved in after he left, as reported by People’s Gazette.

The development comes amid increasing political tension, with reports of pressure on opposition figures like Malami to defect to the ruling party. Critics have accused President Bola Tinubu of attempting to weaken opposition voices ahead of upcoming elections, an allegation he has denied.

Malami has also been facing trial over alleged corruption in recent weeks, a case some observers argue may have political undertones.

Earlier in the day, Atiku shared photos from his visit but did not address the reported raid. The DSS is yet to release an official statement on the incident.
