In a personal and emotionally charged statement released to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, Honorable Mohammed Bello El-Rufai has come to the defense of his father, the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, describing him as the “father of modern development” in the state.
Bello El-Rufai, who represents the Kaduna North Federal Constituency and serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Banking Regulations, used the occasion to address recent criticisms and provide an update on the former governor’s current activities.
In a rare moment of public candor regarding his father’s polarizing tenure, the lawmaker admitted that the former governor is not a perfect man.
“In the execution of all human actions, every leader has their own flaws,” Bello stated. “However, he is considered one of the best by many of us.”
Despite acknowledging these “flaws,” Bello maintained that Nasir El-Rufai’s impact on Kaduna remains unparalleled, labeling him a “highly skilled administrator” whose vision shaped the state’s modern infrastructure.
The statement appeared to be prompted by recent reports from an unnamed agency. Bello noted that he felt “compelled” to return to the public eye briefly to debunk what he described as an “outright lie” regarding the former governor.
