Soludo Sworn In for Second Term as Anambra State Governor
Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has been sworn in for a second term at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, among other dignitaries.
Soludo’s re-election was marked by a landslide victory, securing all 21 local government areas in the November 8, 2025, governorship election. He polled 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 99,445 votes.
In his first term, Soludo’s administration focused on security, technology, and infrastructure development, earning him widespread recognition. The state also became an oil-producing region, unlocking additional revenue through the 13% oil derivation formula.
Security measures were tightened across the state, with personnel from the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and other agencies deployed to strategic locations.
Soludo’s second term is expected to build on his first-term achievements, with a focus on deeper reforms, stronger economic opportunities, and greater prosperity for the people of Anambra State.
