Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has condemned in strong terms the multiple bomb explosions that rocked parts of Maiduguri on Monday evening.
Zulum, who is currently in Saudi Arabia performing the Lesser Hajj, described the attacks as “despicable, cruel, and cowardly,” noting that they were targeted at innocent civilians during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor called for increased vigilance and heightened security measures across the state, especially in places of worship, as the festive period approaches.
He reassured residents that the military and other security agencies are firmly on top of the situation, adding that adequate steps have been taken to prevent further security breaches in Maiduguri and across Borno State.
The statement further urged residents to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear, while also encouraging them to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate security authorities.
