The Ondo State Police Command has refuted reports claiming that suspected bandits were arrested at the Akure Airport.
Earlier on Sunday, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria announced that four suspected bandits had been apprehended within the vicinity of the airport, raising security concerns among residents and travellers.
However, the police command in Ondo State dismissed the report, stating that there was no confirmed arrest of bandits at the airport facility.
According to the command, the information circulating in some media reports and on social media was inaccurate and did not reflect the actual security situation at the airport.
The police further assured residents and airport users that security agencies remain vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
Authorities urged members of the public to verify information through official channels before spreading reports that could cause unnecessary panic.
