Chief Judge of Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, Summoned by CCB Over Undeclared Bank Accounts

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has been summoned by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to address allegations of operating undeclared bank accounts, a violation of Nigeria’s Code of Conduct law. The CCB is investigating Tsoho for allegedly failing to declare three United Bank for Africa (UBA) accounts and one Access Bank account in his asset declaration form submitted on April 29, 2024.

Tsoho has confirmed receiving the summons and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the CCB, accompanied by his lawyer, Kanu Agabi (SAN). He has proposed dates within the week commencing March 16, 2026, for the meeting.

The allegations against Tsoho include age falsification, with some claiming he was born in 1955, contrary to the publicly stated 1959. If found guilty, Tsoho faces removal from office, a 10-year ban on holding public office, and forfeiture of improperly declared assets.

The National Judicial Council (NJC), chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is also conducting a discreet probe into allegations involving senior judges, including false asset declarations. The NJC has pledged sweeping reforms to restore transparency and public confidence in the judiciary.
