The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anthony Okon Placid, as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
DCP Placid, a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in operations, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping, will now take over the strategic responsibility of managing the image and communications of the Nigeria Police Force.
Born in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the new FPRO possesses strong academic credentials. He holds degrees from the University of Uyo, University of Jos, and the National Open University of Nigeria.
DCP Placid joined the Nigeria Police as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1996 at the Nigeria Police Academy and was officially commissioned into the force in 1998.
Over the years, he has served in several strategic positions both within and outside Nigeria, including international assignments with the African Union and the United Nations.
In addition to his operational experience, Placid is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a graduate of the Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen the public communication and image management of the Nigeria Police Force as it continues efforts to enhance transparency and engagement with the public.
