Bandits Kill Three Community Protection Group Members in Zamfara

 

Armed bandits have reportedly killed three members of the Community Protection Group (CPG) in Magamin Diddi community, located in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to local sources, the bandits stormed the community in large numbers and engaged members of the local security outfit in a fierce exchange of gunfire. The attackers eventually overpowered the CPG operatives before fleeing the scene with the rifles belonging to the local security personnel.

The victims were identified as Nasiru Gaji, Jamilu Ibrahim, and Bashar Dan Inna. Their bodies were later evacuated to the General Hospital in Maradun for postmortem examination before being released to their families for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

The attack has heightened tension in the area, as residents expressed concerns over the growing activities of armed groups in rural communities across the state.

In response to the incident, security operatives have been placed on high alert across Maradun Local Government Area. Authorities have also intensified patrols in and around the affected communities in a bid to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement to security agencies as efforts continue to restore calm in the troubled district.
