The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially adopted President Bola Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election, pending clearance from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
APGA Chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, announced the decision, citing Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and shared ideology with the party. This isn’t the first time APGA has adopted a candidate from another party; it supported Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 and 2015.
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, a member of APGA, confirmed the adoption, stating the party’s culture of supporting the government at the center hasn’t changed. The APC has also formally adopted Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for 2027.
The move has received mixed reactions, with some seeing it as a boost for Tinubu’s re-election bid, while others criticize it as desperation. The APC has expressed confidence in Tinubu’s candidacy, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio praising his political acumen and economic policies.
