The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has wrapped up its investigation into sixteen military officers arrested in October 2025 over alleged indiscipline and claims of planning to overthrow the Federal Government.
In a statement on Monday, January 26, 2026, Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said the investigation report has been submitted to the relevant authorities in line with military regulations.
The report revealed that some officers engaged in conduct contrary to military ethics and professional standards, including activities aimed at undermining constitutional authority.
“The comprehensive investigation, carried out under established military procedures, identified several officers implicated in plotting against the government—behavior incompatible with the values and professional standards of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN),” the statement read.
It added that officers found with cases to answer will face trial before military judicial panels under the Armed Forces Act and other service laws.
