The Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gwarinpa, Abuja, has ruled that former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, will continue to enjoy the administrative bail earlier granted to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Delivering a ruling on Thursday, Justice Maryam Hassan upheld the existing bail but imposed additional conditions. The decision followed a bail application filed and argued by Ngige’s lead counsel, Mr Patrick Ikwueto (SAN).
In her ruling, Justice Hassan directed that Ngige must provide a surety who is a serving director in the Federal Civil Service and who owns a verifiable landed property. The court further ordered that the surety deposit the property’s title documents, alongside their travel documents, with the court pending the retrieval of Ngige’s international passport.
The court noted that the EFCC had earlier granted Ngige administrative bail on self-recognition, with a directive that he submit his travel documents to the commission and provide one surety.
The matter remains before the court, with further proceedings expected as investigations continue.
