The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a comprehensive weather outlook, predicting a combination of dust haze, cloudiness, and isolated thunderstorms across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
The agency urged the public, especially those with respiratory ailments, to take necessary precautions as dust particles will be in suspension over large parts of the North.
Northern and Central Regions
The forecast indicates that the northern region will primarily experience moderate dust haze throughout the three-day period (Monday to Wednesday), with visibility likely ranging between 2 km and 5 km. This condition is particularly anticipated over parts of Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, and Yobe States.
The central region is expected to experience a slight dust haze throughout the forecast period.
Southern Region: Thunderstorms and Rain
The weather pattern will differ significantly in the South, where a cloudy atmosphere with sunshine intervals is expected, accompanied by chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rain.
* Monday: Isolated thunderstorms are likely over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom in the morning. Later in the day, thunderstorms with light rains are anticipated over parts of Rivers, Delta, Ondo, Lagos, Edo, Ogun, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.
* Tuesday: Prospects of isolated thunderstorms are forecast for parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom later in the day.
* Wednesday: Isolated thunderstorms with light rains are expected over parts of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Lagos, Edo, Ogun, and Ondo later in the day.
