APC Lauds Tinubu’s Approval of New Ambassadors, Says Nigeria Poised for Stronger Global Presence

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded President Bola Tinubu’s approval of a new batch of ambassadors, describing the move as a major step toward restoring Nigeria’s influence on the global stage.

In a statement released on Saturday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the appointments mark a decisive departure from what he called years of “diplomatic inertia,” ushering in a new era of strategic and assertive foreign engagement.

Oladejo noted that the newly appointed envoys represent “a deliberate blend of expertise, patriotism, and diplomatic depth,” reflecting President Tinubu’s commitment to repositioning Nigeria as a proactive and confident international player.

He explained that the diplomats are expected to advance Nigeria’s interests abroad by strengthening bilateral ties, countering negative global narratives, and pursuing economic, technological, and security partnerships that will yield benefits for citizens at home.

“The world will no longer relate with a hesitant or reactive Nigeria but one prepared to assert itself with dignity, clarity, and strategic purpose,” the statement said.

The APC spokesperson added that ongoing domestic reforms in security, economic management, and governance under Tinubu will serve as a solid foundation for a more coherent and impactful foreign policy framework. He also expressed optimism that Nigeria is now better positioned to reclaim its leadership role within ECOWAS, the African Union, and other regional platforms.

Oladejo highlighted priority areas the ambassadors are expected to pursue, including enhanced counter-terrorism cooperation, improved economic diplomacy, promotion of energy transition strategies favorable to Nigeria, and stronger support systems for Nigerians living abroad.

“For years, Nigeria’s global standing was undermined by inconsistency and lack of vision,” he said. “Today, the country is projecting a unified foreign policy message backed by leadership that fully grasps its international obligations.”

He expressed confidence in the competence of the nominees, noting that their deployment would help secure political, economic, and strategic advantages for the nation while elevating Nigeria’s diplomatic stature.

“The era of timid foreign policy is over. Nigeria is rising again, deliberately, confidently, and irreversibly,” he added.

The ambassadorial nominees are currently awaiting confirmation by the Senate before their official deployment.
