The Sokoto State Police Command has apprehended three suspected financiers of banditry along with several individuals allegedly involved in motorcycle theft and criminal conspiracy. The arrests were made during two coordinated intelligence-led operations that also resulted in the recovery of rustled cattle and multiple stolen motorcycles.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday. He noted that the operations reflect the command’s enhanced security strategy and growing efficiency in intelligence gathering.
According to Rufai, the swift actions by operatives followed credible intelligence that guided the raids, culminating in the arrest of the suspected financiers believed to be supporting bandit activities in the region. Separate tactical deployments also led to the dismantling of a motorcycle theft network operating within the state.
He added that the recovered items, including rustled livestock and stolen motorcycles, are now in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement and to apprehend additional accomplices.
The Sokoto State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining proactive intelligence-led operations and urged residents to continue providing timely information to support efforts toward improved security and crime prevention across the state.
